Look Good … Feel Better Program helps cancer patients deal with effects of … – Foster’s Daily Democrat

DOVER – Heather Houde-Parker was prepared to lose her hair when she started her first round of chemotherapy in 2007.

“If you feel well, if you feel strong and confident, so you can look someone in the face and be optimistic mood is upbeat and not depressed,” said McDonough. “Perhaps a little makeup you will go outside the house. This will contribute to their healing. Reaching out and being with others is an experience of healing. “

After

Houde-Parker, who is 30 and a single mother, was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer in 2007, she began a rigorous treatment program that includes 15 cycles of chemotherapy before undergoing surgery the same year. Shortly thereafter, she learned about the Look Good … Feel Better program by Seacoast Cancer Center participated in a session and I learned a technique she now uses every day – how to draw on eyebrows realistic.

Although

Elson can not entirely agree with these criticisms, “she said, it is important to ensure that these programs are designed to help patients themselves, internally, and that patients are not learning the techniques of makeup to make others feel better or more comfortable to see them in public. ” / p> McDonough said she has heard these criticisms, but the Look Good … Feel Better program is a benefit patient-oriented and nobody else.

What do I look for in a morning cleanser? 1) Mild – Gentle enough to use everyday and shouldn’t be able to remove tough makeup. 2) Light – Gel cleansers are the way to go. Avoid cream cleansers that might leave residue on your face and strip away too much oil. 3) Instant Results – Leaves skin baby soft and supple, not tight and squeaky clean! I actually used to use foundation (to cover acne scars) but I noticed that it made my skin tone uneven and caused A LOT of redness over time. So i quit and I’m really happy with my skin now. @mischiefkitsune I don’t think it removes makeup all that well.. So it’s only good as a morning cleanser :)

    I also have really sensitive skin, with more oiliness around my nose and on my forehead (called the T zone) and sometimes pretty dry cheeks, so I can identify with your need for a product that will address all.
    I have been using Jafra unscented products for over 30 years and am living proof that moisturizing and sunscreen really do work wonders. At 42 I still do not have a single wrinkle. My husband is 12 years younger than I am and my skin is MUCH better than his. In fact, people usually think that I am at least 10 – 15 years younger than I am – younger than he is!
    One thing that you may wish to take in to consideration is that it is not just the moisturizing cream that helps your skin, but the way that you clean it as well. I use a cleanser, toner and night cream most of the time as well as a weekly masque (when I take the time out for myself).
    Unfortunately Jafra products are not available in stores, but are direct marketed.
    Here is a link to their website;
    http://www.jafra.com/intro.html
    Hopefully you will be able to find a Jafra representative in your area. Usually they are happy to do a party for you to get introduced to the products, and hostesses receive free products as gifts! The products are not inexpensive, but are well worth it.
